What is a zine/anthology zine?
A zine is a fan-made, unofficial booklet that can contain art, stories or photos based around a series, theme or ship.Bright Future will be a writer-focused, digital anthology zine with page & spot art and collaborations between artists & writers set during the 8-year timeskip at the end of the My Hero Academia Series. Is this zine for profit?
Yes, this zine will be a for-profit digital anthology. Profits will be split between mods and contributors. Will this project be 18+ or allow minors?
Minors will not be accepted into the zine as a mod or contributor. If anyone is found to be lying about their age, they will be removed from the project immediately. How will contributors be compensated?
Contributors can expect to receive a free digital copy of the zine as well as a split of any profits made from sales of the zine.Is this zine SFW?
This zine will contain both SFW and NSFW content. What are contributor requirements within the zine?
Contributor requirements can be found in our Guidelines. Can I apply for this project?
Yes! Contributor applications will open on January 11th.Will there be Guest Contributors?
Yes! When the Interest Check opens, please be sure and tell us who you would like to see featured! Will all applicants receive an email regardless of acceptance or rejection?
Yes, every applicant will receive an email response with the decision our mod team made on their application. Will you provide feedback on applications not accepted?
We will not be providing feedback on specific applications that don't get accepted. What content will be accepted within the zine/what is the theme?
Bright Future will be focused on content taking place during the eight-year timeskip at the end of the My Hero Academia series. This can be anything taking place during the characters' 2nd & 3rd years at UA, as well as anything taking place within the 8-year timeskip as Pro Heroes. AUs taking place outside of a Pro-Hero Universe will not be considered (although you are certainly allowed to explore canon divergent scenarios. EX: Specific character death was ambiguous so they're alive in your story.)Will there be content restrictions?
Yes! This is a profic/proship project and mods are proship, but for the purpose of the zine we will not be featuring a cautionary section of the zine such as: Lolisho, Body horror, Vore, Unsanitary/bodily waste, Noncon, Gore/Cannibalism/MCD, Hard drug use, Graphic depictions of self-harm, Underage NSFW, Sexual ageplay, Incest, Bestiality, etc. This is not a complete and definite list and is subject to change. Please use your best judgement. If it requires a content warning on A03, it likely won't be featured here.So...what about chapter 431?
Our zine is meant to focus primarily on what may or may not take place during the 8-year timeskip, not after. As the idea for this zine was conceived prior to the publication of chapter 431, it will not be considered part of the canon for the sake of the zine. This includes the confirmed deaths of Touya and Toga. Stories exploring their potential lives during the timeskip are welcome! That said, if there are aspects of chapter 431 that you wish to utilize (Katsuki and his Porsche or newly revealed Hero names, for example) you are welcome to do so. They just will not be required. Anything that was left up to imagination prior to the epilogue may still be on the table if it's something you'd like to create for our zine!Examples of pitches that may be accepted:
- Shigaraki lives on as a vestige inside of Izuku and pesters him nonstop
- Aizawa and Deku interactions with Deku as a teacher
- Erasermic/Kuroboro rehabilitation arcExamples of pitches that may not be accepted:
- Bkdk as 30-something Pro heroes (bc this would take place AFTER the timeskip)
- Twice & Toga open up their own ice cream shop as an LOV front(Twice died in the canon, pre-ending, so unfortunately this wouldn't work)
- Upon losing OFA, Deku decides to make support items with Mei (since we see Deku become a teacher, this also wouldn't work)If you have a pitch in mind that highly affects whether you would like to participate in our zine or not, please contact a mod or DM us and we can let you know if that particular pitch would be accepted or not.If you have any other questions not addressed here, please see our Tellonym or one of our social media pages!
